Since 1989, the Colten Care business has built from just one home on Lymington High Street, to 19 beautifully appointed homes across Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire.
Woodpeckers and Court Lodge our first homes were luxury residential dwellings that benefited from significant building and extension work to re-purpose them into care homes. Since Whitecliffe House each of the 16 homes has been carefully designed and crafted by the building experts in our sister company, Colten Developments.
Each new care home commissioned, benefits from intuitive architecture, innovative building materials and elegant interior and exterior design. To ensure our entire family of homes continue to meet these high standards we implement a significant ongoing refurbishment programme. For the last three years Colten Care have committed around £1m per year into enhancing our existing established homes to ensure each one meets our exacting standards.
A brand new purpose built care home for Chichester
Construction work is well underway for Colten Care’s newest purpose built care home being built on the south part of the former Roussillon Barracks site, Chichester. This work is part of the next phase of the development of the large former MOD barracks site, which was granted planning permission following the sale in 2008.
This care home is Colten Care’s biggest and most advanced to date with 72 en-suite bedrooms laid out over three floors, providing reassurance through the highest standards of nursing and residential care.
This home also represents Colten Care’s first move into West Sussex, out of our traditional Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire heartland. Across the south of England we currently operate 19 care homes providing various care services including nursing, residential, dedicated dementia, palliative, end of life and short stay care.
The home, facilities and staff team structure has been designed to allow residents to live the very highest quality of life despite their residential or nursing care requirements; allowing us to deliver the Colten Care promise we make to all residents: ‘Cherishing You’. This bold commitment is underpinned by our values, embraced by the whole Colten Care team: Kind, Friendly, Individual, Reassuring and Honest.
The staff team, led by our Home Manager will be carefully chosen and provided with extensive training to ensure 24 hour a day consistent high standards of care. Nursing care will be provided by trained nurses within the team, who through our extensive on-going training programme, are kept up to date with current thinking and have a research based approach to care. The ‘Handpicked’ catering team led by a Head Chef supported by a full waiter / waitress service who prepare locally-sourced produce into delicious daily homemade meals, complemented by wines and sherry provided by our supplier Berry Bros. & Rudd. Our dedicated Activites and Social Care team will create interest and sociability with a daily activities and social schedule that reflects the residents’ interests and preferences.
This home will be the first of its kind in Chichester with stunning interiors and gardens, all of which is designed by our expert internal teams, who have built their experience with a portfolio of homes spanning over 30 years. Beautiful fabrics, luxurious cushions and vibrant colour schemes will create a real sense of home for residents and their visitors. Particular regard has also been given to creating attractive landscaped gardens to both road frontages together with a quiet secluded landscaped garden to the rear where the residents and their guests can sit out on fine days and enjoy the sights and sounds.
